Abstract

TRT Arı and Orkut Studios were designed in 1968 by architects Demirtaş Kamçıl and Rahmi Bediz, who played a transformative role in Ankara. Completed in 1971, the building, which is a complex that includes functions such as a school, cinema, theater, printing house, patisserie, wedding hall and office building, bears elements of the modern style. The building is also one of the rare examples of art-architecture synthesis in studios among public buildings with the ceramic panels of Ülkü Bora, Bingül Başarır, Hamiye Çolakoğlu and Cemil Eren, important ceramic artists of the period. By determining the surfaces where the artworks will take place during the design process, it appears as one of the strongest examples of art-architecture synthesis with the presence of artworks not only on the façade or entrance of the building, but also on uncommon surfaces such as columns and borders. This study aims to emphasize the relationship between the ceramic panels in TRT Arı and Orkut Studios with the space, their effect on the user's perception of space, and their contribution to the spatial experience, and the importance of TRT Arı and Orkut Studios among the buildings in the art-architecture synthesis.
