Abstract

Hospital gardens are important open spaces where many users meet their physical and mental needs. Due to the unhealthy and stressful environments in hospital interiors, hospital gardens contribute to the recovery process of patients. Today, landscape design, which gives importance to the use of green areas, offers important design suggestions for hospital gardens. These design suggestions are developed by taking hospital users into consideration, sometimes spatially and sometimes in the design and positioning of the urban equipment used.

This study, the landscape design of the hospital garden of Van Yuzuncu Yil University Dursun Odabas Medical Center was evaluated using the Space Syntax method. In line with the axial and visibility analyses of this method, the missing points in the current landscape design of the garden were tried to be determined and suggestions were presented. This study will contribute to identifying suitable areas in the landscape design evaluation of hospitals using the space syntax method.
